John Scott and Kevin Tully attended the most recent training on Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders (HVEDR) from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). This week-long course, offered in Charlotte, North Carolina, included in-class instruction as well as hands-on training and testing of several truck tractors. Topics included proper handling of vehicles following a collision to prevent spoliation of data, proper data extraction techniques, and inspection procedures; all of which are focused on validating that the HVEDR data obtained from the vehicle applies to the subject incident.
